Our Death Toll is Much Higher than 200,000
On September 22, the US hit a grim milestone — 200,000 deaths from coronavirus. But it’s much worse than that.
An analysis calculated excess deaths in 2020 by comparing deaths from previous years. It found that for every 100 deaths caused by COVID-19, there are 36 excess deaths likely linked to COVID-19 “but in a less obvious manner.”
This means that the actual death toll could be over 272,000.
